Welcome.

I’m Angelina Danae, a writer and baker curious about the things we make and the things that make us. Launched in October 2023, From the Hand is my collection plate for letting that curiosity run wild.

The Personal Fine Print

Much of who I am and how I function is influenced by my origin—I was born and raised in an Amish community in northern Indiana.

During my middle school years, my family, along with many of my relatives, was excommunicated from that community over differing religious beliefs. After several years of living between worlds while we attempted reconciliation, my father made the call to have our family leave altogether. The searing pain of that loss and separation also came with great opportunity.  I had the chance to continue my education beyond the 8th grade. Once in high school, I was within reaching distance of college and my childhood dream of becoming a writer. I was the first in my family to graduate from both, earning a journalism degree that landed me in a writing role within the marketing industry.

Nine years and many heartaches later, I ditched my marketing and PR career to start over. That is where you can find me now: in the starting over part. In May 2024, I wrote about my career heartache and what led to the pivot I’m currently living out. You can find part one of that four-part series here

Through it all, my love for words has remained. Here in this Substack you will find bits of my story, what I’m learning, and reflections on all that I’m making. I’m thrilled that you’re here and sharing this space with me.
